Keshet is a group for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans Intersex Queer and Questioning Jews and their friends in Manchester and the North West.
It's a group for Jews of all shades of the rainbow - secular to orthodox, patrilinear or matrilinear.
Working for the full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans Jews in Jewish life.
Keshet are gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans Jews and straight allies from all denominations and Jewish backgrounds.
Keshet believe that LGBT people do not need to choose between their sexual and gender identities and their Jewish identities. It is possible to reconcile both. Keshet reject the view that Jewish religion and culture are opposed to our sexual and gender identities and believe in a vision of Judaism that embraces diversity of sexual orientation and gender identities.
Their mission is to work for and ensure the full welcome and inclusion of LGBT Jews as members of the Jewish community in the North of England based on the central Jewish values of truth (emet), social justice (tzedek) and loving kindness (chesed),
Support Keshet will provide a support network for Jewish LGBT people who are geographically, socially or spiritually isolated, and provide safe and supportive environments in which Jewish LGBT people can meet one another.
Advocacy Keshet will provide representation for LGBT people within the Jewish Community and for Jewish LGBT people within the wider community.
Education Keshet will address homophobia, discrimination and ignorance of LGBT issues within the Jewish community, and address antisemitism and ignorance of Jewish issues within the LGBT community. Tel: 07528 700926 Email:
