Sparkle is one of the worlds largest transgender celebrations and took place on the 27th, 28th and 29th June 2008. Sparkle provides a weekend of activities ranging from social, educational and supportive - aimed at everyone from the TG community. Sparkle's unique TG Party in the Park took place in Sackville Gardens on the Saturday, from 12 noon until 10 pm. This is always the highlight of the weekend with stalls and info stands and a main stage featuring a showcase of TG talent.
Vicky Lee from The Way Out Club in London gave a talk on "Role models" at 12 noon at the MMU. She also hosted Miss Sparkle on the main stage in the park.

Pride Games 2008 Manchester is an annual inclusive international mutli-sports tournament focusing on Lesbian Gay Bisexuals. Events will open with the Alexandra Park Opening Fun Day, a charity fundraiser for the George House Trust. Events will include; rugby league, climbing wall, community charity relays, dunk tank and the popular 5k run. Starts at 10.30am, Sunday 7th September 2008. Kicking off a week of fabulous tasters events and leading into a weekend of participative competitions and concluding with the Sport For All Festival on Salford Quays Sept 14th – 30 events in total and it's open to all.

Queer Up North is Europe’s most ambitious LGBT festival.
It opens with a world premiere from Sandra Bernhard; it closes with a UK premiere from the Stephen Petronio Company.
In between are two and a half weeks of maverick talent, provocation, glamour, entertainment and art, from French puppets to lesbian pulp, from Bette Bourne to Billy Bragg.

Manchester Pride invites you to be part of their biggest celebration so far - Prides 18th Birthday Parade. The festival’s organisers are inviting social groups, organisations, commercial companies and anyone who wishes to be a part of the festivities to get in touch as soon as possible. Any interested parties should summit their entries by 5pm on Friday 11 July. The 2008 Manchester Pride Parade will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 25 August, creating a carnival of colour as it weaves through the streets of Manchester city centre.
